Vanumamman vintillä

“I started from scratch! I had nothing but two healthy hands, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a brave faith in life,” Vanumamma, Aline Grönberg (1871–1950).
During the autumn of 2023, office space was renovated on the attic floor of the Vanu building in the center of Turku, and Kuusi Partners, who were looking for larger premises, also moved there. I got to finalize the interior design regarding surface colors, textiles, furniture, and decoration, as a finishing touch to Arcon’s spatial planning.

Our goal with the client was to create a space where it is easy to feel comfortable and where one can endure even long days. A stylish, timeless interior where carefully selected, aged furniture meets modern requirements. Oy Turun Vanu – Åbo Vadd Ab, which operated in the building in the early 1900s, was a company founded and led by a strong entrepreneurial woman, Aline Grönberg, and she should not be forgotten in the interior design. Grönberg watches over Kuusi Partners’ operations daily from the best spot in the meeting room; a picture of her was obtained with the kind assistance of Olli Kauremaa.

The interior colors were chosen to be various shades of green, reminiscent of the company’s name, as well as other nature-inspired shades and patterns. Whenever possible, local expertise was used in the production of the logo, as well as in dishes and decorations.
