Location location location. The location of this studio apartment is perfectly close to everything, yet the window overlooks green courtyards and the atmosphere is hazy and peaceful. The square footage had already been cleverly utilized, but I got to fine-tune the use of all corners a bit more, and I also pulled out my powdery colored pencils. The resident wished for more storage space, a hotel-like atmosphere, space for friends, and a cohesive overall look. We started with a black and white palette, and upon leaving, the space had gained muted shades of rose, hazy green-gray, and many soft textiles. The custom-drawn wardrobes fill one wall, elegantly hiding everything to be stored.
The resident wished for the remote workspace to disappear when it was time for fun. That’s why I designed a piece of furniture for her that functions as both a desk and a wall mirror. Another mirror was attached above it, which normally serves as a bathroom mirror cabinet, but in this case, it allows for lipstick application in daylight, as it was brought into the living room. A headboard and curtains were also designed for the space, allowing the atmosphere to be updated from thin curtains fluttering in a summer night to a dark movie mode. Finally, we spent one sweaty afternoon with Rekonstruktion’s Reko and Rido’s Susanna, finishing the apartment with a surprise styling during the installations. Flowers in a vase and door closed! It’s a joy to create home dreams with a super talented team!
