Lost in Levi

We heard the call of the north and jumped on a train, of course! Lost Tacos is Lauri & Joonas’s first own restaurant, and a Mexican one at that. The brief for the interior design tasted of words like cozy, fine dining without pretentiousness, colorful, and a place where you can come in a dress or a beanie.

These ideas were taken as the starting point for the design, and the goal was also to use as much recycled material and custom-made furniture as possible – Mexican atmosphere colored with Finnish craftsmanship and a Levi twist! The tiles for the bar counter eventually traveled in the same truck as the drink taps, and otherwise, we tried to utilize travelers going long distances for help. Some of the restaurant’s chairs were bought used from another restaurant, and originally, the chairs served at Lohja Seurahuone in the 40s. The brass railings of the booth were created by the skilled hands of the restaurateurs. Sisse conceived these railings from an old brass bed headboard.

The entire Lost Tacos project was characterized by a spirit of volunteerism and a do-it-yourself attitude. For the final touches, the Snowmobile Project and its offspring were packed onto a train, and finally, tiny cacti fit into the hands of tiny volunteers in the back seat.

Qué onda? Juicy flavors, fresh tastes. Soft on the outside, lots going on inside. A taco. Sort of like these 2 güeys in here. Joonas&Lauri. From Koskenkorva and Helsinki. Working with Sisse was our best decision because Sisse came, not only to help with the restaurant’s interior design, but she helped us comprehensively with marketing, branding, and everything else possible related to the restaurant’s opening.
