Fresh air is the Finnish recess and the best way to solve any problem. The calming and refreshing power of nature allows the mind to relax. Different landscapes reflect all kinds of moods in people: inspiration, joy, or even peace – whatever is needed at the time. Reflections can also be seen in nature itself: on the surface of a summer lake, in an autumn raindrop, or in sparkling snowdrifts.

From all these magical reflections of Finnish nature, visible and felt within oneself, the idea for a space was born: k a i k u u – Finavia VIP & Meetings.

The space communicates with the colors of nature, with materials that feel good to the touch. It surprises in unexpected places, offering spaces from relaxation to inspiration. The space invites unique experiences that cannot be bottled – they must be experienced with all senses. After the experience, a small breath, a home away from home, remains in the mind. A feeling of being cared for.

Finavia VIP & Meetings consists of various spaces inspired by Finnish nature, focusing on different moments and elements of the sky. Kaikuu Lounge welcomes the guest and offers a moment of rest.

The spaces are named inspired by the sky and its phenomena. The color scheme and atmosphere of each are different, yet linked to each other. Surprising details, stories of Finnishness, and refreshing thoughts. Something unexpected, something worth arriving early for.

All furniture and surface materials have been selected from Finnish brands. The space represents different eras, classics, and works by young designers. Upholstery fabrics are also made in Finland, at Annala weaving mill in Lapua. Cozy nooks for relaxation, places to work alone or together. Areas that allow for leaning forward and backward, coffee & rest moments. The space utilizes surfaces from ceiling to floor, and also allows for flexible modification of spaces.

My idea was to create visual reflections through materials, and to evoke the feeling of a forest with muted tones and authentic materials. Glossy, rough, matte, and soft surfaces invite touch. Spiritual reflections are created by peaceful spaces and the ease of the experience. The space offers what each visitor there desires. As the forest answers, so is it called.

”Sisse unhesitatingly took on our project, where old premises underwent a complete transformation on a very tight schedule. She quickly internalized our will and conjured a completely new atmosphere into the spaces, down to the smallest detail.

Sisse not only listened to our wishes but also challenged us during the project to think in new ways about both the versatile utilization of the spaces and the bold use of colors and different textures. As a result of excellent design, the airport’s VIP & Meetings services now have magnificent multi-purpose facilities, furnished entirely with products from domestic brands.

We have received many compliments for this harmonious ensemble from the international clientele of the premises. The end result was a whole that not only met our expectations but also exceeded them.” Finavia
