The Kelkka project was called to the downstairs of a semi-detached house built in the 70s a little over a year ago. The first thing that catches the eye when entering the space is the magnificent original, shiny blue tile. And that’s where it all started. The downstairs was renovated to include a sauna, bathroom, utility area, TV room, and bedroom.
To support the blue tile, the color scheme of the era was kept in mind: terracotta, wood surfaces, and simple white. The goal was to make the space a comfortable place for the family to relax, for sauna evenings with friends, and even for a personal spa moment.
Thank you for letting me be a part of this transformation!
After living in our apartment for 7 years and with the family growing, we needed to make more efficient use of the additional square footage downstairs. Although the old covered swimming pool had certainly served as a floorball court for our own and the neighborhood boys in an exemplary manner. Few have their own indoor floorball court! But time for everything.
We had been considering different options, but our own eyes had become too accustomed to the situation and we needed help. Luckily, we got Sisse involved in the project! Sisse immediately grasped what we hoped for: more square footage, versatility, and maintaining the 70s spirit of the house.
We are more than satisfied with the end result. The lovely original Pukkila tile was preserved, as we hoped, but it was complemented by warm wood and a beautiful earthy color scheme. The shower area was renovated into a practical combination with the TV area, and our family’s sauna experts got a first-class sauna for their use.
Thanks to Sisse for always being friendly, for the great ideas, and for the excellent execution. Finally, the whole family can enjoy the downstairs, and a new floorball court has even been found on the outdoor terrace.
Nothing found.
